DHS is looking for readers to join the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl Team.
Each year, high school students across Georgia participate in the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl by reading the 20 Georgia Peach Teen Book Award nominated books & competing in a quiz bowl-style event. There is a county competition, a regional (metro-Atlanta) competition, and a statewide competition. This year's competitions will all be conducted virtually via Teams or Zoom.
A team needs to have at least 5 members & no more than 10. Each person needs to commit to reading 4 of the 20 books, and each book needs to be read by at least 2 people.
Attached is the book list & a PowerPoint that has descriptions of each book. All 20 books are available as eBooks and audiobooks in the Sora app (available through Clever Launchpad). The DHS Library Media Center also has the print books that students can place on hold & come pick up on Wednesdays. Here's a video that shows how to get the books from Sora or from the library:
