AP Exams

Attention students:

AP Exams are around the corner! Over the last few weeks, we’ve received several inquiries about cancelling AP exams or moving exams to the late testing window.  Please share the following information with our students.

Test Prep resources are available on the DHS Library Media Center webpage at https://www.dunwoodyhs.dekalb.k12.ga.us/TestingResources.aspx.

Cancellations
Students may cancel an AP exam by logging back into their Total Registration account and requesting a cancellation (www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/111152).  There will be a $40 Cancellation Fee assessed by College Board. Cancellation fees are not covered by waivers, so all students will be charged the $40 fee when the exam is cancelled.

Late Testing
Due to the number of AP Course offerings here at Dunwoody, it is not unusual for students to have two exams on one day, this does not warrant a move to the late testing window.  Exceptions to this would include: a delay in the start of the first exam causing a conflict with the second exam of the day, we would move the second exam to the late testing window; or, a student receives College Board approved accommodations that cause an overlap/conflict with the second exam of the day.  Most students who fall into this category have already been addressed.

Please review this excerpt from College Board below relative to late testing:

Late-Testing Circumstances
A reason needs to be indicated in AP Registration and Ordering when switching an exam order to a late-testing exam date. When the cause of late testing is beyond the control of the school and the student there’s no additional fee—most reasons for late testing don’t incur a fee. Some reasons may incur an additional $40 per exam late testing fee. The late-testing reasons allowed without incurring an additional fee are:

  • Academic contest/event
  • Athletic contest/event
  • Conflict with IB or Cambridge exam
  • Conflict with nationally, province-, or state-mandated test
  • Disabilities accommodations issue
  • Emergency: bomb scare or fire alarm
  • Emergency: serious injury, illness, or family tragedy
  • High school graduation
  • Language lab scheduling conflict
  • Religious/holiday observance
  • School closing: election, national holiday, or natural disaster
  • Strike/labor conflict
  • Student court appearance
  • Two AP Exams on the same date at the same time
Please let me know if you have any questions.
