Important Announcements
Monday, February 3 - Midunit 1.3, 1.4 Assessment
The date of the 1.3, 1.4 midunit assessment is Monday, February 3. You will write 2 SAQ’s for this assessment (no multiple choice questions). Because of the unusual circumstances, I am giving you the assessment questions in advance.
* Identify and analyze causes of the Dutch Revolt.
* Identify and explain TWO elements of the Catholic Reformation.
* Identify and explain ONE similarity and ONE difference between Lutheranism and Calvinism.
* Identify and analyze evidence supporting the argument that the Thirty Year’s War was fought primarily for religious reasons.
The assessment will consist of two of these questions, word for word. Therefore you will need to prep for three of them (otherwise you might get the two that you didn’t study for).
Virtual Day, Thursday, January 23
1) Complete the assignments from Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22 (below)
2) We have missed a lot of content in a content-heavy course. To make up for the time we have missed, please read Chapter 13 (pp. 368-400) of Spielvogel's Western Civilization (a popular AP European textbook). Here is a link to the book:
As you read through the chapter, please take the trouble to mentally address the questions at the end of the primary passages on page 370 (Erasmus), page 373 (Luther), page 376 (Luther), page 382 (Zwingli), page 386 (Calvin's Geneva), page 388 (Katherine Zell), page 391 (Loyola), and page 398 (Queen Elizabeth I). Be prepared to discuss this material during class discussion when we return to class on Friday.
